- The Central Bureau of Investigation's Additional Director Rakesh Asthana was named as the agency's interim director, replacing incumbent Anil Sinha, whose tenure ended on Friday.
- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi convener Dilip Pandey slammed Asthana's appointment and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was using the agency as a political weapon just like the erstwhile Congress government.
- "It seems that the government wants to manoeuvre the investigation of some serious case as per its own wishes, for which they have appointed the Gujarat cadre officer to the crucial post," he said.
