She is ‘The Leader’, Venkaiah Naidu Says in an Emotional Address
Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu offered his commiserations on Jayalalithaa's death in an emotional tribute. He also spoke about his personal relationship with the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
She had the conviction and courage and had taken up a number of welfare schemes for the poor that’s why she was known as ‘Amma’. She was a good orator and had brought revolution in politics. Despite coming from an ordinary family...she occupied Tamil Nadu’s politics. She was very affectionate towards me. She always used to talk to me in Telegu. She had a good equation with PM Modi as well. As she was a nationalist to the core, we had a liking towards her. She is The Leader as said by Panneerselvam. I appeal to the people of Tamil Nadu to maintain calm and peace and see to it that tributes are paid in a dignified manner, that is the fitting tribute we can pay to departing leader.
