The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has recommended Y-category security for television news anchor Arnab Goswami, reports The Hindustan Times.
Goswami’s comments against terrorist groups on Times Now, of which he is the editor-in-chief, have invited threats from them, IB officials have said.
Citing a Home Ministry official, the report states:
Goswami is being given security on the basis of a threat-perception analysis by the IB. We will go by the IB recommendation. He faces threats from Pakistan-based terrorist groups due to his comments against them on Times Now.
The central government will ask Maharashtra government to provide a detail of 20 security personnel to Goswami as he resides in Mumbai.
