Rajnath Vows to “Completely Seal” Indo-Pak Border by Dec 2018

Top BSF officers and senior officials of J&K, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Punjab governments are expected to be present

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh after a border security meet in Jaisalmer on Friday, said that the Home Ministry is working on plans to completely seal the Indo-Pak border by December 2018.

He also revealed that efforts are underway to gather inputs from all border states to start a new concept called Border Security Grid, to better monitor the problematic Indo-Pak border.

Rajnath reached Jaisalmer on Friday on a two-day visit to review the security situation along the India-Pakistan border with Chief Ministers of four states. He was welcomed at the airport by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje.

The Home Minister is chairing a meeting attended by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Top BSF officers and senior officials of the state governments of Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Punjab are also present.

Rajnath Singh will also hold a meeting with the Chief Ministers.

The Home Minister will also tour the border areas of Rajasthan and the border outposts to assess the situation along the border.

The Home Minister will hold a separate meeting with BSF officials in Barmer on 8 October.
