BK Bansal, former director general of Corporate Affairs, and his son committed suicide in their house on Tuesday, months after his wife and daughter had committed suicide as well.
BK Bansal, an additional secretary-rank officer in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, was arrested by CBI on 17 July while receiving a Rs 9 lakh bribe from a prominent pharma company.
We are deeply saddened to know the unfortunate demise of BK Bansal and his son today. The matter is being looked into by the local police. BK Bansal, then DG, Ministry of Corporate Affairs (Government of India) was an accused in a bribery case, in which he was arrested on 16 July 2016. He was granted interim bail from 20 July 2016 to 21 August 2016. Thereafter, he was granted regular bail on 30 August 2016. The case is under investigation. Further, the son of BK Bansalwas neither accused nor summoned by the CBI in the on-going bribery investigation.CBI Statement
On 19 July, accused BK Bansal’s wife Satyabala (57) and daughter Neha (27) committed suicide in their East Delhi apartment, and left separate suicide notes saying that nobody was responsible for their death.
