90’s television actress Renuka Shahane has invited AFSPA activist Irom Sharmila to stay with her in Mumbai.
In a post on Facebook, Renuka Shahane, who’s appeared in popular TV serials such as Kora Kagaz and Surabhi, offered her support to Irom’s fight, irrespective of her decisions.
You are still fighting against AFSPA; you are going to do that with a person whom you have chosen to love and in a manner that you and only you should choose to do. You are so used to dissent. After her decision to end her fast and stand for elections, Irom Sharmila has found it difficult to find a shelter owing to her own supporters’ disappointment over her choice.
Many of those who had supported her fight against AFSPA have withdrawn their support calling her independent decision to stand for elections as a move away from the collective struggle that AFSPA is.
Renuka also firmly criticised people who force their opinions on people, especially an adult woman who has the right to choose a lover.
