UPSC Exam Topper Tina Dabi Barely Crossed the 50 Percent Mark

This reflects the strict evaluation adopted by the UPSC to select the country’s top bureaucrats.

22-year-old Tina Dabi, a graduate of Lady Shri Ram College, the topper of the 2015 civil services examination, secured 1,063 marks (52.49 percent) out of 2,025 marks. This reflects the strict evaluation adopted by the UPSC to select the country’s top bureaucrats.

There are three stages of the civil services examination for IAS, IFS, IPS, among others:
1. Preliminary
2. Main (1,750 marks)
3. Interview (275 marks)

Second-ranked Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan from Jammu and Kashmir, got 1,018 marks (50.27 percent) and third rank holder Jasmeet Singh Sandhu secured 1,014 marks (50.07 per cent), the UPSC said.

Khan was an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer while Sandhu an Indian Revenue Service (customs and Central Excise) officer. Both were undergoing training before making it to the top.

A total of 1,078 candidates, including 499 in General category, 314 belonging to Other Backward Class, 176 from Scheduled Castes and 89 from Scheduled Tribes, have been recommended for appointment to various central government services on the basis of civil services 2015 examination results declared on 6 May.

There are 172 candidates on the waiting list.

The UPSC has uploaded the mark sheets of successful and unsuccessful candidates on its website. The list will be displayed till 13 July.
