Srinagar, April 16 (IANS) A soldier who had gone missing earlier this month in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district has joined militant ranks, police said on Monday.
While there has been no confirmation from the Army yet, police said Idrees Mir, of the Jammu and Kashmir light Infantry, on Sunday joined the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit along with two other locals who had also gone missing from their homes.
Police confirmation came after Mir's picture wielding an AK-47 rifle went viral on social media.
