London, June 21 (IANS) Former England football captain David Beckham on Thursday predicted an England-Argentina final in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia.
"I think obviously my choice would be England to win the competition, but that's me being biased and passionate about my country," Beckham was quoted as saying by BBC while speaking at an event in China.
The last time England progressed to the quarter-finals was in 2006. Beckham was the captain then. Two-time winners Argentina were runners-up in 2014 and won the World Cup in 1978 and 1986.
"I'm very happy that we won the first game in the group," Beckham said.
"England is a very young team, they don't have a lot of experience yet and the journey of the World Cup will become harder and harder because there are many good teams in the tournament," the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star added.
England beat Tunisia 2-1 in their opening game with skipper Harry Kane scoring a brace that included a last-ditch winner in second half added time.
