Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Convict Nalini Applies for Parole

Nalini Sriharan applies for 3-day parole to participate in her father’s funeral rites, hearing in Madras HC today

Nalini Sriharan, who has been convicted for the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi has applied for a three-day parole to participate in the rituals following her father’s funeral. She has asked for parole on 8, 9 and 10 March. Her plea will be heard in the Madras High Court on Tuesday at 10:30 am.

It has been only a week since the Tamil Nadu government wrote to the Centre, seeking its opinion on releasing all the seven life convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

On 24 February, Nalini was granted a 12-hour emergency leave to attend her father Sankaranayanan’s last rites in Chennai.
