- CBI raided the Vice Chancellor’s office and Central office of the Visva Bharti University campus in Shantiniketan, West Bengal, to investigate corruption allegations against former Vice Chancellor Sushanta Dattagupta.
- The raid was carried out on Tuesday, and also included the residence of Dattagupta. CBI sources said searches started at seven places on Tuesday morning.
- Dattagupta had been sacked by President Pranab Mukherjee in February, over allegations of “making 25 illegal appointments, drawing pension from JNU along with his salary from Viswa Bharati without getting it deducted from his pay” among other things, according to a report in The Indian Express.
