Kerala Rape Accused Identified by Police as Victim’s Neighbour

Kerala police have identified one of the accused in the Kerala rape case as the neighbour of the victim. Reportedly, he is also a drug addict. The authorities had detained two people for the crime on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Jisha, a 30-year-old law student, was found brutally raped and murdered at her house in Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district of Kerala.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy visited the victim’s mother on Wednesday. Following the attack on her daughter, she took ill and was admitted to a hospital in Perumbavoor.

“I assure you that the culprit behind this brutal crime would be brought to justice,” Chandy assured the victim’s mother.

Additionally, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also taken suo moto cognizance of media reports of the crime, and issued a notice to the Kerala government
