With Donald Trump being formally inducted into the White House, foreigners and immigrants are suddenly looking at an uncertain future.
Many of Obama's policies now run the risk of being reversed. Take the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) programme, for instance. This was designed to help undocumented illegal migrant students from being deported.
Trump's transition team has asked for copies of every executive order since Obama took office in 2009.
This means that the information collected for the DACA programme, including participants' addresses, could theoretically be used to locate and deport them if the policy is reversed.
According to the internal memo seen by Reuters, the transition team has also asked for information about whether any migrant records have been changed for any reason, including for civil rights or civil liberties concerns.
