A few days back, a statement was made by Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the State Youth Parliament that women should not be drinking beer.

*Slowclap*.

So ladies, beer be damned, bring on the wines and whiskies!

But wait a minute, what is one to drink in the sultry climes of Goa?

Wine? Whisky?

The thought itself sends heat waves through my body! No woman in her senses would order a wine or a whisky while soaking up the sun in Goa. Beer is the perfect candidate for Goa. Nothing like chugging down a cold beer while you lie on the sand under the clear blue sky and stare at the sea.

This, too, in a state where beer is cheaper than water. I mean, the last time I went to a pub in Goa, it was selling FIVE pints for Rs. 100. Hallelujah! Now, why wouldn't one want to quench their thirst with beer?

Besides, if men can  drink beer why cant women?

By the way, beer-drinking naaris are pretty amazing. They are, well, regular women who could be just about anybody, who could do just about anything. Why should we be labelled as souls with “loose morals” and a threat to society? This is what makes me laugh.

And we don't need a man to tell us if we can handle our drinks or what we should drink or not. Damn you #Sanskaristereotypes

Don’t even get me started on how a married woman always needs to know how to cook! Is cooking a meal for her man, the ultimate moksha she can attain?

May I ask, why is it only the job of a woman to cook?

Times have changed. If men are too tired to enter the kitchen after a long day of work then so are women. A kitchen is not some sort of forbidden place for men. It’s a part of the house which the couple has rented out or bought together.

It’s time we laugh off these stereotypes and bring out the ‘buri’ ladki in us! Cheers to that womaniyas! Ab Laugh Naari!
