Delhi Police Arrest Four Men in US Woman’s Gangrape Case

The teacher from Pennsylvania pressed charges against five men for raping her in March this year.

Four men were arrested by the Delhi police on Monday in relation to the gangrape of a teacher from the US in March this year.

One of the five men who gangraped her in a five-star hotel in the heart of Delhi, was a tourist guide. The men, related to a travel agency, the woman claims in the email, entered her room to discuss the route map.

On 3 December, the Delhi police registered an FIR regarding an incident of gangrape of a US national in a hotel. The complainant was kind; she came down to Delhi, got her statement recorded before the police and court, and helped in collecting evidences.

Pathak said that the four accused – tour guide, driver and helper of tourist bus, and hotel worker – have been arrested. The police will seek remand custody for interrogation of the four men from the court, he said.

Earlier, the survivor had said that she was not satisfied with the probe and was ready to come to India to identify the accused.

In December, the woman tried to file a report with the Delhi Police, but to no avail, her advocate Mrityunjay had claimed.

The woman has identified and named the five alleged rapists, including the tour guide and two hotel staffers.
