Non-communicable diseases or NCDs affect millions of people worldwide.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) launched a report in 2018 stating that “billions of people around the world were affected by NCDs, and at all stages of the life course, from childhood to old age. The growing trend of population ageing had enormous ramifications for the prevention and management of NCDs.”
The report also stated that other challenges faced against the execution of healthier practices included not just lack of political support, but also implementation of the norms that were decided upon. Legislation, enforcing standards and acquiring enough investment were all hurdles that had to be overcome.
So what exactly are NCDs? What is the percentage of deaths caused in India by NCDs? What can help prevent NCDs? This week’s FitQuiz is designed to help get you all these answers and more.
