On Sunday, 17 February, veteran actor Nafisa Ali shared a positive update about her cancer treatment. Having undergone a major surgery, Nafisa posted a video of her recovery and healing after it.
She cheerfully wrote that all her cancer has been removed and now she is working on getting her strength back.
Nafisa has been extremely vocal and public about her journey of battling cancer so far and regularly shares pictures with family and friends on Instagram.
She was diagnosed with stage 3 peritoneal cancer in November 2018. It’s the cancer of the lining of the abdomen, and albeit rare, is more common in women than men.
Only ten days before her surgery, Nafisa had shared her story with FIT, with her doctor Dr Pramod Kumar Julka by her side. Among other things, she emphasised on the importance of cancer awareness.
Both Nafisa and Dr Julka cannot insist enough on the importance of awareness for both patients and health practitioners. Nafisa shares that a good two months were wasted even with the final round of tests while they were trying to figure out what was wrong with her body. These two months could have been used for the treatment, she adds with a rueful smile.
If we have to fight cancer, while there is no certain way to avoid it, these are some markers that can come in handy. Get regular check-ups, maintain an active lifestyle and eat a clean diet, advises Dr Julka.
