As India continues its fight against tobacco use, there is positive news: According to the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) released by the World Health Organisation, Tobacco use went down by 6 percent from 2009-10 to 2016-17.

The survey also seems to indicate that the government decision to increase the size of warning labels to 85 per cent of the packet size seems to have succeeded in dissuading users.
