Gymnastics and pole dancing are behind Jacqueline Fernandez’ killer abs and a flawless body. Her instagram is full of pictures of the actor working out and setting new fitness goals. She recently launched her own line of active wear called Just F with Mojostsar, that will target young consumers between 20 and 35 years of age.
You want to get that perfect Jacqueline bod? Listen in to her fitness advise and why she launched her own label.
How many days a week do you work out?
Jacqueline says working out doesn’t always have to be the same as gymming. She says since January she’s not worked out in the traditional sense. She prefers dance classes, dance training, pole classes, gymnastics, stretching - something she does every single day.
Snacking before a workout?
Since Jacqueline works out in the mornings, she prefers a cup of coffee as it gives her good energy. She doesn’t like eating anything before because she believes the body needs to concentrate on the task at hand instead of focusing on digesting food. If you are super hungry, just have a small fruit.
Fitness motivation?
It’s all about feeling good. If you feel good about yourself, that’s your motivation. She says, "I am at my worst when I haven't worked out because I am not proud of myself. You look in the mirror and you feel disappointed, you haven't worked out, you are not taking care of yourself, it's not a good feeling. My motivation is to be always proud of myself, to respect myself, and that comes from taking care of myself.”
Working out during periods
There are some girls who go through really bad cramping. Jacqueline suggests we don’t push ourselves on those days. For those who are fine, a light walk is just as good. When you are not in a good state, when you are extremely exhausted, mentally fatigued and you just want to sit at home and watch a movie, that's completely fine too. The actor says training should come from a very focused mind. So we need to make sure we are mentally in the right space.
Fitness Clothing vs PJs
Jacqueline says women should be able to feel super comfortable in their workout clothes. It shouldn't be all that different from what you wear on a normal basis. You should be able to leave your luncheon and say I'll hit the gym or the dance class and come back. Create that fitness lifestyle for yourself, and make it fun, fashionable and enjoy it, she says.
30 minute workout ideas
Yoga, 20 minute workout DVDs and belly dancing DVDs are her go to choice if Jacqueline has less time on hand to get proper trainer-supported workout. Her personal favourite? Pole dancing!
How to choose a trainer
Always test out a trainer before you hire the person. Jacqueline says the one trait that is non-negotiable is that the trainer has to be motivating. She says, “Make sure you are comfortable with that person, he keeps things creative and at the same time keeps you motivated. I don't like trainers who demotivate. We are all here to learn something and you are here to guide us and teach us. Demotivating and demoralising is not the way forward."
Jacqueline's fit mantra?
It’s time to start giving an 'F' about fitness!
