A little over two months after her shift from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi, Eman Ahmed, believed to be the world's most heaviest woman in January, is reportedly in better spirits.

Currently admitted in the city's Burjeel Hospital, Ahmed has been eating four meals by herself and is able to sit up in bed. This is in stark contrast to her stay in Mumbai's Saifee Hospital from 11 February to 4 May, where she recorded very little limb movement and her speech was unclear.

Ahmed is scheduled to undergo liposuction and abdominoplasty to cut down extra fat, followed by a series of plastic surgeries to shape the skin around her arms, legs and face.

Speaking to Indian Express, Dr Yasin Shahat, medical director at the hospital said:

She will remain admitted for at least a year. We will now focus on her leg movements. A correction surgery of hip, knee and joints is needed. Her leg muscles are too weak to support her weight and physiotherapy is necessary. But we are still not sure if she can walk.

He added that overcoming depression has also contributed to the major leap in Ahmed's recovery.

While in Mumbai, Ahmed had allegedly shed over 300 kg of her near 500 kg, and underwent a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy surgery to shed over 75 percent of the size of her stomach. Her treatment reached a standstill when doctor-patient relations soured after treating surgeon Dr Muffazal Lakdawala asked Ahmed to return home and continue her rehabilitation there. After a series of public disgreements, Ahmed's family shifted her to Burjeel hospital in Abu Dhabi in May.

Recounting what had happened in India, Ahmed's younger sister Shaimaa Selim told The Indian Express.

Whatever happened in India had stressed her.

The doctors at Bureel are exploring a multi-disciplinary approach to treat Ahmed.

After her treatment, we want to make Eman the ambassador for obesity management to address the rising issues of child obesity.

The team at Saifee Hospital refused to comment on Ahmed's case.
