Yes, you read that right!

As per a new study, cockroach milk is full of nutrients and might be more healthy than a cow’s milk.

The study, published in the Journal of the International Union of Crystallography, states that cockroach milk has four times more protein than cow’s milk and thrice the amount present in buffalo’s milk.

Not only this, cockroach milk also contains amino acids that help keep our bodies healthy by promoting cell growth.

What is being referred as ‘cockroach milk’ is actually a fluid which is found in the middle of the gut of the cockroaches. This protein laden fluid is produced by cockroaches to feed their newborns.

The presence of fats, sugars and protein in this fluid is the prime reason why researchers are so keen to device a method to extract it. They feel cockroach milk can become the next big superfood.

Since milking a cockroach is a little tricky, the researchers hope to isolate and synthesize the exact protein carrying compound. This process might help solve multiple issues related to food shortage.

As per a report in Inverse, cockroach milk might be best consumed in the form of a pill and that it would require at least a 100 cockroaches to make one pill.
