On August 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Fit India Movement’ on National Sports Day to inspire India to reach a healthier future.

To show support for the movement, many athletes and celebrities from Karan Johar to Geeta Phogat took to twitter to laud PM Modi and his initiative.

Tendulkar took to the streets to play a friendly game of cricket with actors Varun Dhawan and Abhiskeh Bachchan, truly embodying the spirit of Fit India.
A few celebrities from Bollywood showed support for the Prime Minister’s initiative, with Shilpa Shetty even tweeting out her look for the event.
Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju who was also in attendance, later thanked Shetty for her “active participation in the Fit India Movement...to make it a people’s movement.”
Rishi Kapoor and Karan Johar tweeted out too, with strikingly similar tweets of congratulations.

During the event, the Prime Minister congratulated the winners of the national sports awards and lauded India’s sporting achievements. In turn, many Indian athletes from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar to boxing superstar Mary Kom tweeted about the importance of fitness and congratulated the PM’s initiative.
Cricketer VVS Laxman posted in honour of India’s 'hockey wizard' Dhyanchand, whose birth anniversary is today, 29 August. His sporting legend is why 29 August is celebrated as National Sports Day.
