Facebook Did Not Sway US Election Results: Sheryl Sandberg

Sheryl Sandberg says Facebook is tackling fake news and also talks about the topics that dominated the site in 2016.

Amid claims that fake news on Facebook helped propel Donald Trump to the White House, the internet giant’s Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg asserted that this did not sway the US election results.

Speaking to TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie. Sandberg, however, said that the social media site was working to address the issue of misinformation on the site.

Looking back on the year 2016 and what it did for Facebook, she noted that the US elections were the most discussed topic among the global audience. Sandberg was quick to attribute this to the newly added ‘Facebook Live’ feature which, according to her, helped people across the world connect.
