Jerry Seinfeld won’t be getting on his flight to Mumbai. It’s not that he didn’t want to, but sadly, the Mumbai traffic police just realised that the city’s parking just can’t handle Seinfeld’s humour.

Only Much Louder (OML), the event organisers are as bummed out as Seinfeld fans in the city. Vijay Nair, CEO of OML revealed the real reason behind the cancellation in a telephonic interview with The Quint saying, “OML is a victim of bad timing. Since the recent parking brawl involving the Maharasthra CM’s convoy on the 1st of March at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI), many traffic officers have been transferred and the ripple effect of that has led to the cancellation of our Jerry Seinfeld act.”

Nair also mentioned that the Mumbai Commissioner of Police, Rakesh Maria has issued a statement by which all weekend events at the NSCI will be cancelled, as the traffic situation tends to get out of hand because of limited parking space at the venue. The much awaited event was to take place on the 14th and 15th of March.

OML also issued a statement via one of their official Twitter handles:

Nair added that OML will be refunding all ticket holders of the sell out show, “We couldn’t foresee that a parking problem will crop up because we’ve done many shows at the venue including the AIB roast and parking has never been an issue. We will be refunding every ticket sold.”

While the Devendra Fadnis led Mahrashtra government draws up ambitious plans of reviving the city’s night life, that an artiste of Jerry Seinfeld’s stature is asked to stay at home is certainly not going to help Fadnavis’ vision. Vijay Nair had earlier reportedly mentioned that it will take OML four long years to recover from the damage caused to the company by the AIB Roast controversy and the Jerry Seinfeld show cancellation.
