Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded is in its final week (Thank god for small mercies!).
Let’s be honest, this season of the Indian version of Strictly Come Dancing was just boring, and there was nothing reloaded about the show.
The show had less to do with dance, and more to do with the Bollywood fraternity coming together for one big glittery party – a launchpad for star kids and providing actors from the past with some mileage (cough, cough Shamita Shetty)
The Quint tells you all the moves Jhalak got wrong this season.
We Ain’t Judging
The pretty phoren girl Lauren Gottlieb upped the glamour quotient, but failed to do what she was roped in for –judge (at least that’s what we think). Gottlieb, Season 6’s runner-up sat comfortably as one of the dance gurus to flash her radiant smile. May be Gottlieb was on the show to only boost FDI!
All the Wrong Moves
On one hand the show took care of the gender equality (read Lauren Gottlieb) bit, but on the other it completely ignored the most deserving (read Ganesh Hegde). The ace choreographer was mostly sidelined in the show, and was overshadowed by the alluring Gottlieb and energetic Shahid Kapoor.
Shahid Kapoor is no Madhuri Dixit
Every Jhalak fan missed Madhuri Dixit Nene this season. And Shahid Kapoor definitely failed to pull off a Madhuri. The ever-so-excited Kapoor lacked Madhuri’s composed and dignified attitude. The actor tried too hard – from being a judge, a co-host, and more or less everything one can be on the show.
Goodbye Karan
We’re still wondering why Karan Johar ever signed up for Jhalak Reloaded? But good sense prevailed, and the director left the show midway. Even while KJo was on the show, he seemed like the principal trying to maintain decorum at the Jhalak school. But if you have a bunny energiser (read Shahid Kapoor) in the class, nothing works. Maybe Karan was missing his co-headmistress Madhuri Dixit.
It’s Time for Bigg Boss
Boss, when the promos of Bigg Boss Double Trouble are being aired, why would anyone be interested in Jhalak Reloaded? Salmaniacs can’t wait for bhai to appear on TV screens as the goofy and affable host of India’s most controversial reality show. Salman Khan will be back with his Jhalak on 11 October.
