Great Grand Masti, Indra Kumar’s latest directorial venture has nothing to do with the 3 words that constitute its name. There is no masti, nothing grand and precious little to call it great.
Bollywood’s ‘corporate social responsibility’ ensures it provides employment to otherwise out-of-work actors like Aftab Shivdasani and Vivek Oberoi.
The duo join resident “adult comedy” veteran Riteish Deshmukh and reprise their roles from the previous 2 installments – Masti and Grand Masti. In this one too Amar, Meet and Prem are three sex-deprived men in search for some “masti”. The similarity ends here; the obnoxious misogyny sadly doesn’t!
Great Grand Masti can be best described as a visual translation of a pervert’s sexual fantasy. Here women are either “dumb” bells or daayans! There is Urvashi Rautela who actually plays one! She is a daayan who died a virgin. For “aatma ki shanti” she must keep her raging hormones in check and hence spends her time gyrating to ridiculous songs to win the approval of the 3 men.
The 3 men also have wives, who fight amongst themselves about whose husband deserves to get the “breast” piece of the chicken and who desires the leg piece. All this while the men feast their eyes on the “bhoot” (Urvashi Rautela) who willingly lays herself on the dining table!
Painful mediocrity, childish sexual innuendoes and obnoxious slapstick humour put in lavish frames for 127 long minutes is bound to take a toll. The unnecessary song and dance sequences don’t help!
Any self respecting adult who claims to have a brain must maintain a respectable distance from Great Grand Masti. What it deserves is nothing more than half a quint and a royal ignore!
