Veerappan by Ram Gopal Verma gets 1 Quint out of 5. Better luck next time, RGV.

Ram Gopal Verma has lost his movie-making skills, and he still can’t find them. Veerappan tells us that it took 10 years to kill Osama Bin Laden, 20 years to kill Veerappan, and let me inform you it takes 203 minutes to bore us to death.

The best thing in this whole attempt is the casting of the lead pair – Sandeep Bhardwaj as Veerappan is super impressive. Also Usha Jhadav is pitch-perfect in the role of his wife. But apart from these two, everything else is cacophony!

If acting skills could be ordered online, Sachiin Joshi could still have a chance. But alas that isn’t the case. Consequently, as the cop who eventually does manage to capture and kill Veerappan, Joshi is totally unconvincing.

However, the inclusion of Lisa Ray is the most puzzling. Her voice has been already dubbed; only if her expressions were also outsourced, things would have been better. But the film offers us no relief from her miserable attempt at acting.

Simply put – Veerappan is a disorienting and tiresome watch. All that RGV does is to regurgitate the facts about the notorious dacoit we already know.

My suggestion would be to wait for the film to be broadcast on television. It gets nothing more than 1 QUINT out of 5.
