The documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the production of the final season of the show. It offers insight into not just the sheer scale of the series but also the emotional ties that its actors have developed over the years. In the trailer, for example, we see the show’s lead actors Kit Harington (who tears up), Sophie Turner and Peter Dinklage at the last table reading. "Here we are at the last table read. It's like looking around and seeing your family,” says co-showrunner DB Weiss. You also see glimpses of the crew building the elaborate sets, working on make-up for characters like the Night King and bringing various key shots to life.

The Last Watch “delves deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields, and car-parks of Northern Ireland,” reads HBO's description of the show. “Much more than a ‘making of’ documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world – and then have to say goodbye to it.”

The Last Watch airs on Star World on 28 May at 8pm.
