The makers of the TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma have cancelled the show’s upcoming 10th anniversary celebrations as a mark of respect to Kavi Kumar Azad, who played the hugely popular character, Dr Hathi. The actor passed away on 9 July after suffering a cardiac arrest. Azad’s sudden passing sent a shock wave through the show’s team and fans.
The popular show is set to complete 10 years on 28 July. The makers were planning a grand celebration party to mark the occasion, which has now been put on hold in the event of Azad’s death. According to Times of India, there might be a small puja on the set instead.
Producer Asit Modi paid a tribute to Azad on the show. Nirmal Soni, who played the character of Dr Hathi earlier, may be approached to replace the late actor on the show.
