The producers of Pehredaar Piya Ki are back with a new show titled Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, with the same lead cast from the controversial original, which had been forced to go off air following a big debate around its regressive plot. Though its makers claim that Rishta is a completely new show, its promos suggest otherwise. Apart from Diya (Tejaswi Prakash) coming across as a more fierce and angry princess, and of course, Ratan Banna (Rohit Suchanti) looking all grown up, not much has changed.

While Shashi and Sumeet Productions claim that with Diya still playing the role of Ratan’s pehredaar, the revamped show will put an end to the stereotype that only a man can be the protector.

It might be too soon to judge and we’ll hold our verdict for November 7th, till the show’s primetime premiere. But the premise of the new show has our curiosity piqued – Ek wachan, 12 saal intezaar, na baat, na mulaqat, na rishta, na pyaar. Phir kaise likhenge yeh rishta naya?

Clearly, the producers have ensured that Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya steers clear from any kind of relationship between Diya and an underage Ratan, be it physical or emotional, and that their story begins in adulthood.

The promo also suggests that they still happen to be bound by the same promise that Diya gave Ratan’s dying father, but one isn’t sure how the 12 year leap has been justified in the new narrative. An official statement issued by the producers also clarifies that Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya is a finite story about what remains to be a ‘unique relationship’.

The show remains set against a royal Rajasthan and if guesses must be made, it looks likely that with the age-difference gone from the Pehredaar Piya Ki plot, Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya might revolve around a love story stuck within the politics of a royal household.

Tejaswi Prakash told the media recently that she’s been focussing all her time on getting super fit for her new avatar, since it requires her to do action sequences.

I have always been a fitness freak and from the past few months, I have been hitting the gym regularly. I have presently been working out rigorously every day for almost two hours which has helped me to lose body fat and gain an impressive muscle tone. Also, while shooting for Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, I have been performing different kinds of action sequences such as camel riding, archery etc. My extensive workout regime has worked wonders for me.
