Popular comedian Kapil Sharma may have made a premature comeback to the small screen with Family Time With Kapil Sharma. The stand-up artiste who has been a huge hit with television audiences for over a decade now (he won the Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007), reportedly continues to be on a personal and professional low with no signs of getting a grip.

There are already reports of Kapil Sharma having not shown up for two scheduled shoots with celebrity guests. While the TV star has himself dismissed reports of him having stood up Tiger Shroff via a tweet, there are now stories of him having kept Rani Mukerji waiting and eventually not turning up to shoot an episode of Family Time With Kapil Sharma.

A source close to the production team of the show confirms that Kapil Sharma has cancelled at least 3 scheduled shoots of Family Time With Kapil Sharma till now and one of them was with a celebrity guest.

Since there has been no denial about the last minute cancellation of a shoot with Rani Mukerji, she could very well be the celebrity guest in question.

What’s more, there was supposed to be a press meet on 23 March, right before the launch of Kapil Sharma’s new show on 25 March, which again was mysteriously cancelled just a day prior to the event. While the channel attributed “technical reasons” for the cancellation of this presser - it now seems that Kapil Sharma’s unavailability could well be the untold cause here as well.

Though it cannot be confirmed, a source close to the project also says that an unofficial communication in no uncertain terms has already been made to Kapil by a senior official of Sony Entertainment Television, stating that the comic actor needs to get his act together or end his contract with the channel.

Kapil Sharma’s fall out with his earlier team, especially Sunil Grover continues to be unresolved and has left him bitter. Kapil’s recent tweet to Ali Asgar shows that the man is missing his earlier crew that made him such a big hit.

“Thank u ali bhai .. missing u guys .. it’s the same floor where we used to shoot comedy nights.. I only know how I am shooting without u guys .. love u”
Kapil Sharma’s tweet to Ali Asgar

After Sony pulled the plug on Kapil Sharma’s last TV outing - The Kapil Sharma Show in September 2017, due to concerns over the comedian’s health, the channel promised to return with a new and improved Kapil Sharma. Last year, there were several reports of Kapil having kept stars waiting on the sets of his show and at times not showing up at all. While some reports also speculated about a drinking problem that ailed Kapil, others said that the comedian was suffering from stress and was having panic attacks. However, Kapil Sharma’s comeback show on Sony - Family Time With Kapil Sharma, was hardly impressive.

Whatever it is that’s keeping Kapil Sharma from getting back his original mojo, he shouldn’t have done a rushed job of returning on air with a brand new show without sorting his mess out. With reports of his recurring health issues continuing to create a buzz, it’s clear that Kapil needs a longer break - not just to recuperate his health, but to also get a better show in place that befits his talent. Else, we’ll be just collectively witnessing the downward spiral of an extremely talented entertainer of our times.
