Koffee with Karan promises to get quite candid as Kajol and Ajay Devgn grace the couch. While Kajol and Karan have allegedly patched up after their 2016 fallout, will this episode bring KJo and Ajay closer as well?

KJo and Kajol have been friends since childhood. Karan has said that the actor was a source of support during his time as assistant director on Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and in 1998, Karan Johar made his directorial debut with Kajol and SRK in the lead. He has worked with this jodi on several films, including Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and My Name is Khan, often calling them his lucky mascot.

In 2016, after a 25-year-long friendship, Karan and Kajol had a major falling out due to a clash of dates. Both Karan’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay were slated to release on the Diwali weekend that year. In his book An Unsuitable Boy, KJo says that at the time he was accused of sabotaging the image of Ajay’s film.

The two friends have reportedly since buried the hatchet and in this episode, Karan extends an olive branch to Ajay. He asks if they could be friends. Kajol interjects, pointing out that Karan was her friend and not Ajay’s.

According to reports, the couple discuss their relationship and Ajay Devgn talks about how his wife is extremely “low maintenance”. Karan takes a dig at Kajol and asks her why she chooses to shop at Santa Cruz market when she can afford the best designer wear. To this she responds saying that she prefers comfort and does not care too much about branded clothing.

“I’d rather put my money in fixed deposits than spend on something expensive that has no bloody returns.”

Ajay Devgn also complains about how he has a lot of problems shopping for her since she dislikes expensive gifts. He says,

“Every year, I choose a car I want and say, ‘Baby, I’m getting you a birthday gift,’ only to take it back later.”
