HBO has just confirmed that the much-awaited final season of Game of Thrones will premiere in the “first half” of 2019. Casey Bloys, HBO's president of programming, confirmed the news during the Television Critics Association's Summer Press Tour.
According to The Morning Bulletin, the wait should be worth it.

Bloys also confirmed that HBO is currently working on one of the five Thrones spin-offs, and the others are either "on hold" or no longer in the works.
We are doing a pilot that Jane Goodman wrote. Out of five, we’d be lucky to get one that we’re very excited about it... We’re just starting the search for a director [and] casting director.
