When Game of Thrones came to an end with Season 8, fans were definitely left disappointed with the season finale and also with the fact that their favourite show has come to an end.

They did get a reason to rejoice with the news of a Game of Thrones prequel, and now HBO has given green signal to another prequel which will focus solely on House Targaryen.

The prequel will be set 300 years before events of the original series, and will track the origins and events in House Targaryen, and will be based on George RR Martin's book 'Fire & Blood'.

Stories of Targaryen kings, from Aerys & Rhaegar Targaryen to Daenerys Targaryen, have been narrated in the book and will form the crux of the prequel.

A number of other prequels to the hit series had already been announced earlier and will be starring eight up and coming stars along with Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse.

According to HBO, the prequel starring Naomi will be set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones.

It will chronicle the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend, the official logline of the show read.

The project hails from creator Jane Goldman and author George RR Martin. In May 2017, a multitude of writers were announced by HBO to be working on what Martin described as the "successor shows."

The other writers working on the potential spin-offs are Max Borenstein, Brian Helgeland, Carly Wray, and Bryan Cogman.
