Warning: Spoilers ahead.
The third episode of season 8 of Game of Thrones, ‘The Long Night’, had fans jumping from their seats, especially during the face-off between Arya and the Night King. While there are many theories surrounding the leader of the White Walkers, here’s a look at the man behind those piercing blue eyes.
While the Night King was portrayed by British actor Richard Brake from seasons 1 through 5, Vladimír Furdík, a stuntman turned actor, took over the role of the Night King season 6 onwards.
On the show, he is hidden beneath layers of prosthetics but Vladimír’s often shares sneak peeks from behind the scenes on Instagram.
Here he is in the flesh, sitting on the Iron Throne!
His eerie grey visage may be etched in our minds but we have previously seen him in mortal form, during an episode from season 6, in one of Bran’s visions where the Leaf from the Children of the Forest turns him into the Night King.
Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran, shared a behind the scenes picture of the Night King holding an umbrella for him. A bold move considering the Night King has been “coming for him”!
In another Instagram post Vladimír poses with none other than Arya Stark (Maisie Williams). The caption reads, “She killed me with a smile.”
While the big war with the White Walkers may be over, three more episodes of Game of Thrones are left and we can’t wait to see who finally gets the throne.
