Bigg Boss 11 started as the battle between the Gharwale and their Padosis. As Shilpa Shinde walked through the doors of the reality TV show, she was weighed down by the baggage of being India’s favourite bhabhi ji. Faced with her nemesis Vikas Gupta on Day 1 itself, Shilpa never shied away from telling her side of the story. Funny, quirky and full of life, Shilpa soon proved to be one of the strongest contenders of this season. Her equation, constant battle and finally, friendship with Vikas Gupta made her popular with the viewers.

As she progressed from being a “bhabhi” - thanks to the role of Angoori Bhabhi in the famous TV show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai! - to taking on the mantle of “maa” on the show, she showcased her true self and continued her struggle in the house. Her humility and mature outlook also won her appreciation and respect from host Salman Khan.

Shilpa Shinde made her television debut in 1999. As Manju, she came into the spotlight for playing a negative role in the soap opera Bhabhi. Next came roles in shows like Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai, Sanjeevani, Amrapali, and Miss India that strengthened her position in the television industry.

We caught up with Shilpa and this is what she had to say about Vikas Gupta, a contestant she doesn’t want to see again and also how she managed to lose all the extra kilos.
