US cable TV channel HBO has been riding a wave of success this year. After the record-breaking final season of Game of Thrones, their new drama series Chernobyl has been certified a hit. The 5 episode mini-series is a fictionalised hard-hitting look at the Chernobyl nuclear tragedy of 1986. The last episode aired on Monday, 3 June.
Audiences and critics have loved the show, making it currently the highest rated TV series on IMDb. Chernobyl has an average IMDB rating of 9.6/10, which places it above Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, both of which have a rating of 9.4/10. Every episode of the five-part miniseries has been rated 9.5 or higher.
Chernobyl has been written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck. It stars European actors Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård, Emily Watson, and Paul Ritter in lead roles. It is available to stream in India on Hotstar.
Chernobyl was shot primarily in Ukraine and Lithuania. Here are few stills and behind-the-scenes photos from the sets of the show in Vilnius, Lithuania. Take a look.
