We were all excited to learn that Adil Hussain is going to be a part of the third season of Star Trek: Discovery. The actor has now taken to social media to express his excitement of being a part of the Star Trek universe. “Excited and thrilled to be a part of the Star Trek cast in the 3rd Season. Here is the trailer. Have a look you might be happy to see me,” Adil wrote.
The teaser trailer for the third season was premiered at the New York Comic-Con on 5 October. We caught a glimpse of Adil Hussain (Life of Pi, The Reluctant Fundamentalist) in it. He has added to the list of Indian faces who have been part of the science-fiction franchise, the most famous of whom remains the late Persis Khambatta.
Star Trek: Discovery follows the Star Trek: Enterprise series, which ended in 2005, and begins a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series. Season 3 will see a jump in time of 930 years. The crew is dropped out of a wormhole into an unknown future with the prospect of never returning to their original time period. They must come together to grapple with the events.
The returning cast members in season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery include Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Wilson Cruz, David Ajala and Michelle Yeoh. The new season will premiere in 2020.
Executive producer Alex Kurtzman also announced a new instalment of mini movies, Star Trek: Short Treks, which will be available on CBS All Access from 5 October. The first short, Q&A, follows Ensign Spock's first day aboard the USS Enterprise, which takes an odd turn when he and Number One are stuck together in a turbo lift.
