He’s a stylish actor and a slick director, but Farhan Akhtar admits that he wasn’t a born fashionista. Farhan credits his wife Adhuna, for helping him discover his personal sense of style. “In terms of style, there’s a before and after Adhuna phase in my life. She has a huge role in changing my style - from my hair, to what I wear. In the last few years I have started to feel open and comfortable wearing stylish clothes.”

Farhan who has been signed on as the brand ambassador for Code by Lifestyle, spoke about his favourite style icons. “I find Saif Ali Khan’s sense of style very cool. Shah Rukh Khan has a great personal style so does Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.”

Giving tips on his how to be “effortlessly cool”, Farhan said:

1. Dress for the Occasion

In the past, a lot of my friends or people who worked with me used to make fun of me that wherever I go I wear a jeans and keds. I have stepped up since.

2. Be Comfortable

Anyone who enjoys clothes will tell you that the most important thing is to feel comfortable in what you wear.

3. Be Adventurous

To have a certain sense of adventurism in what you wear is nice.

4. Let Your Clothes Reflect Your Personality

What you wear could be a reflection of who you are as a person. The clothes you wear are in a way an extension of you.

5. Overall Fitness is Important

I genuinely feel fitness is very important. By fitness, I don’t mean only physical fitness. Mental fitness that comes from reading, spiritual fitness that comes from traveling/experiences. Equally important is to keep your heart open for evolution and change.
