Shahid Kapoor told us everything about fatherhood and his little bundle of joy Misha in a candid conversation with Anupama Chopra and Rajeev Masand at the Jio MAMI Mumbai film festival recently.
Fatherhood has changed him, the actor admitted, but only for the best. Shahid said that he feels extremely content going back home to his little one and hugging her instead of his awards and trophies. He also confessed that he did expect an award for Kaminey but was happy to get one for Haider.
Shahid wants Misha to be proud of him and that’s what his focus is going to be from now.
“Fatherhood Has Made Me Stronger” Says Shahid
Fatherhood has changed the Shahid Kapoor we knew. The actor says that being a dad gives him strength. We wakes up happier and more excited about life and work and wants to give every day a lot more, so that he can make little Misha proud of him.
I have not given her (Misha) a bath yet. But have done everything else, from putting her to sleep to everything. All my t-shirts have vomit or milk on them. I like to spend as much time as I can with her. I have been on a paternity break and haven’t been working for the last four or five months. I feel very strong because I want to fight for Misha. I want to be my best for her, and that gives me a lot of strength. I want to get up and do a better job at everything every morning because I want her to be proud of me.Shahid Kapoor, Actor
Sitting Through A Narration Feels Like An Arranged Marriage
Shahid makes a funny comparison between sitting through a boring film narration and meeting a girl in an arranged marriage set up. What’s common between the two you wonder? “You can’t get up and leave or be rude. You have to seem interested. But your body language gives it away” said Shahid and this really cracked up everyone in the room.
Sitting through a narration is like an arranged marriage. You are going to meet somebody for the first time and in 5 minutes of meeting them you need to know if you are interested. You have to sit through two and a half hours when in the 15th minute you know that this is not something that I am interested in. It’s like when you go to watch a movie and you hate it, but they lock the door and you can’t leave. You can’t even let the screen know that you don’t like it. For all you know, that film might be a blockbuster or extremely relevant, but you just don’t get it. You can’t be rude but you have to sit through it and show fake interest also. When they sense it, half of them go into depression and do a bad narration, and the other half become over-enthusiastic. Either way, it is messed up and a terrible experience. I prefer to read scripts but the only problem is that I am not much of a reader, so it is easy for me to get bored. I make my wife sift through the scripts.Shahid Kapoor
Here’s Why Shahid Wanted To Marry Someone ‘Real’ Like Mira Rajput
Shahid Kapoor has had his share of link ups in Bollywood and very public break ups too. But interestingly, when it came to marriage, he feels lucky to have met his wife Mira Rajput, who is one of the few ‘real’ people in his life that keep him grounded and away from the bubble that celebrities live and function in.
I felt like it was important to find somebody who, ideally for someone like me who lives in a bit of a bubble, it’s nice to find somebody who is real and normal and reminds you of everything that you kind of get isolated from. Even though you try your best to be normal, from a normal person’s point of view, you’re very not normal.Shahid Kapoor
Shahid and Mira do stand out as a couple in the film industry being an ‘arranged’ match, but they have restored the faith in that approach to marriage for many.
I am an actor and have great respect for what I do. So it is not like i have a problem with that or anything. I have had relationships with actresses and that have been public. Whether we like it or not, the minute you are a celebrity you are not going to be able to do everything that a normal individual can do. It immediately starts limiting your exposure to everything that is real and normal.Shahid Kapoor
