Golden Globe Awards 2018 host Seth Meyers expertly walked the tightrope of between being funny and making a strong statement about addressing the allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct that have shaken Hollywood recently.

Take a look at Meyers’ punchlines and the clever inclusion of “Jokes Seth Can’t Tell” at the Golden Globes on Sunday night:

"Good evening, ladies and remaining gentlemen! It's 2018; marijuana is finally allowed and sexual harassment finally isn't."

"There's a new era under way, and I can tell because it's been years since a white man was this nervous in Hollywood"

"For the male nominees in the room tonight, this is the first time in three months it won't be terrifying to hear your name read out loud."

"They tried to get a woman to host this show, they really did. They said, 'Hey, how would you like to come and be judged by some of the most powerful people in Hollywood? And women were like, hmm, well, where is it? And they said it's at a hotel...and long story short, I'm your host tonight."

"Harvey Weinstein isn't here tonight because, well, I've heard rumours that he's crazy and difficult to work with. Don't worry, he'll be back in 20 years when he becomes the first person ever booed during the In Memoriam."

Jokes Seth Can’t Tell

The “Jokes Seth Can’t Tell” segment at the Golden Globes was borrowed from Seth’s Late Night show where he lets others (his women writers Amber Ruffin and Jenny Hagel who are black and gay) take the punchlines since he self-admittedly isn’t qualified enough to speak about certain experiences because he’s just another “straight white guy”.

On Sunday night, Seth used select members of the audience to deliver the punchlines:

With Jessica Chastain on Sexism

Seth Meyers: "The Golden Globes turn 75 this year."

Jessica Chastain: "The actress that plays its wife is still only 32."

With Billy Eichner on Kevin Spacey

Seth Meyers: "Call Me By Your Name is nominated for Best Motion Picture. It's a gay, coming-of-age story,"

Billy Eichner: "Said Kevin Spacey: 'You lost me at "of age."'"

With Amy Poehler on Mansplaining

Seth Meyers: "You wanna do one?"

Amy Poehler: "Uh, yeah, I'll do one, but I don't need your help, I don't need a setup to make a punch line work, okay?"

Seth Meyers: “I’m sorry, I apologize.”

Amy Poehler: "Oh, another apology, how wonderful."
