RSS’ official newspaper, Panchjanya has criticised Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju for attempting to whitewash Sanjay Dutt’s image in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blast case. In the article titled ‘Kirdaar Daagdaar’ (Tainted Character), RSS questions the intent of the filmmaker about wanting to paint a rosy picture of Sanjay Dutt, and if Hirani merely wanted to mint money at the box-office with the film.
The newspaper even went on to call Sanjay “criminal”, according to News18.
RSS also reportedly slammed Hirani for projecting Dutt as a “role model for the younger generation”.
Sanju released on 29 June and is inching closer to the Rs 300 crore mark.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt, along with Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala and Sonam Kapoor.
