Nirupa Roy - the quintessential Bollywood mom from the 1970s, who passed away in 2004, has a real life Deewar situation playing out at her home. Instead of Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, her own sons are currently locked in a property battle over her flat in Embassy Apartments located on Nepean Sea Road and worth Rs 100 crore.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Roy’s children - Kiran (45) and Yogesh (57) are fighting over the 4-bedroom flat spread 3000 sq ft with a 8000 sq ft garden located on the ground floor, which they also currently occupy. According to her younger song Kiran, he is the sole owner of the flat according to their parents’ will, while his brother only has been allowed to stay in the flat with his family.
My mother had transferred all her properties, including another flat, in my name because Yogesh and his wife used to ill-treat her and my father. In his will, which was executed in December 2004, my father had made me the sole owner of the Nepean Sea Road flat as well, but allowed my brother and his family to reside there on the condition that they never enter my parents’ bedroomKiran (Nirupa Roy’s youngest son)
While Yogesh refused to comment, Kiran has alleged that his brother was trying to bully them out of the apartment. Kiran has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking an order to permanently restrain his brother and family from accessing the portions of the house occupied by Kiran and his family, besides equal rights to common areas.
