Actor Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about his current frame of mind after a series of not-so-successful films, his rumoured break-up with Katrina Kaif, his grandfather Raj Kapoor, and a lot more that’s going on in his starry life. Here are some highlights:

“I Remember Raj Kapoor As A Loving Fat Grandfather”

I was six when he passed away. He showered extra love towards me as I was his first grandson. He would call all of us in his room, make us stand in a line and say, ‘salaam karo.’ We would do salaam to him and then we would have to kiss him on either of his cheeks to get those caramel toffees he used to get from abroad for all of us. Whatever I am today is because of his films. I think I know him more now through his films than as his grand son. I don’t remember him as the star or the filmmaker, but as a fat loving grandfather.

“I Have To Go Back To Being A Nobody”

I am going through a little bit of a metamorphosis right now. I am trying to understand where I am at life. Sometimes I feel I am stuck between ‘what if’ and ‘F*** it’. But it is a good time to not get bitter about things. I have nothing to be bitter about. I know my films are not working. The enormous negative spotlight on my personal life, you have to take all that into your stride. You have to understand it and then free yourself from it. I am talking as an actor, because that is my purpose. There has to be a huge change in my life right now because I am in that phase where I have to change- my films have to change, my pocket of expression has to change and the tricks in my magic bag have to change. I have to unlearn and go back to being a nobody. They say, ‘is the shine on my star fading.’ Yes, all those thoughts come in, but you have to fight it. The god is in the work so you have to continue working, but I am filled with these worrying thoughts.

“My Relationship With Katrina Is Very Dear To Me”

Whatever I say on any platform, it will be grossly misconstrued and many interpretations are taken of it. Over the years I have understood that my personal life is very dear to me and especially what my relationship with Katrina was, or is going to be. After my parents, she has been the most influential, motivational entity in my life. I hold that very dear. I don’t want to speak anything about it, there is no negativity, no sense of bitterness.

“My Relationship With Katrina Was Punctured By A Lot Of Baseless Rumours”

I cannot sit in every interview and explain myself and my heart, and especially where my relationship is concerned, because it was really punctured by a lot of things- absolutely baseless rumours and reports, perceptions and point of views. It hurt, but I don’t want to clarify them.

“I Respect Katrina’s Work Ethic & Passion”

Katrina and I have amazing creative energy and we have always had that. We have always had so much fun working with each other. Apart from the fun, the kind of passion and work ethic that she has, I haven’t seen that in many people in this industry. I hope that I can continue working with her in the future.

“I Know I Am A Good Actor, I Just Have To Be A New Person”

I am not going crazy. I have immense faith in my own talent. I do believe that I know my job. It has been 8-9 years for me in the industry and I know that I have only honed my skill and have made myself better. I know the craft now, I just have to be a new person.

“Sanjay Dutt’s Life Is Bloody Interesting”

When you approach a biopic on the life of Sanjay Dutt and Raj Kumar Hirani is making it, you can’t really depend on what you know of him. Now I have the responsibility to portray him in the best way possible, in an engaging way. That life is bloody interesting. It is not a propaganda film, or is not trying to paint him grey, white or black. It is an engaging film. It is a story which was waiting to be told and just the fact that Sanju sir was so giving and graceful and so honest about it that he has not hidden anything. It is a very tricky biopic because it is not about anyone who is from the past. He is a very famous Indian superstar, who is still working in movies. How do you make a biopic on him? What’s your end?

“I Want To Fall Madly In Love, Get Married & Have 3 Children”

Time frames change. I remember when I started, I said that I will get married by the time I am 28 and have 3 children by the age of 30. The desire is still the same. I want to get married and have children. I will do it in the right way, meet a like minded person, fall madly truly deeply in love and take it from there. Everything should be natural and organic.
