1. VHP Leader Seeks a Ban on ‘Raees’ Claiming It “Glorifies” Dons

The release of Raees has not been an easy journey. Firstly, SRK had to head to Raj Thackeray’s house, the chief of the MNS, and give an assurance that Mahira Khan, who hails from Pakistan, will not be part of the promotions following the ban on Pakistani actors in the country.

While this ensured a smooth release of the film, SRK’s troubles haven’t stopped there. A PTI report states that the Gujarat wing of the Shiv Sena and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad – is now seeking a ban on film. The reason cited is that the film “glorifies” a real criminal.

After 50 years in the film industry I find myself deeply isolated and  unable to play the games that are being played. My son, Hrithik, and I are very simple people. We love the cinema. And we are part of it not to make big profits but because we enjoy being a part of the entertainment industry. Unfortunately the kind of politics that goes on here is beyond our understanding or tolerance.

The high-profile murder of Pakistani social media star Qandeel Baloch took a new turn after her father retracted his earlier statement. He also refused to testify against one of the suspects, prompting the police to register a case against him.
