There have been many female spies in history who've played a key role behind the scenes. As Alia Bhatt’s cinematic thriller, Raazi hits the screens, take a look at the real-life war heroines who altered history with their skills and knowledge. Spies like Noor Inayat Khan, Mata Hari and Madhuri Gupta have endured many harsh conditions including interrogation and torture for their respective nations.

During World War II, Winston Churchill formed a web of spies and recruited many women on ground for his Special Operations Executive (SOE) division. Noor Inayat Khan, direct descendant of Tipu Sultan, was a part of Churchill’s SOE.
