Malayalam star Prithviraj, along with filmmaker RS Vimal, has announced what will be the biggest and most expensive film ever in Kerala. The project titled Karnan, will be an ambitious period saga on the lines of Baahubali. The announcement itself was a grand event at a ballroom in Burj Al Arab in Dubai on Friday.
Prithviraj posted the news on his Facebook page soon after with a motion poster of the film:
While the rest of the cast of this magnum opus is yet to be finalised, cinematographer KK Senthil Kumar, who has shot most of filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s films including Baahubali has been roped in to film Karnan. The historical is bankrolled by producer Venu Kunnapilly, who has assured his team that the project will have an ‘unlimited budget’. While the budget of the film has not been disclosed, even a figure of 40 to 50 crore would be massive by Malayalam cinema standards.
Karnan is currently still being scripted and while the makers have announced that there will be Malayalam and Tamil versions of the film, it might well be dubbed into other Indian languages as well for a wider release.
Prithviraj along with director RS Vimal delivered the blockbuster Ennu Ninte Moideen in September last year, which also got rave reviews. The duo will be hoping to repeat the success on a bigger scale with Karnan.
