After Anupam Kher confirmed that he would be playing former PM Manmohan Singh in the film The Accidental Prime Minister, based on Sanjaya Baru’s book by the same name, the actor today tweeted the first poster of the film.
Kher posted on his Twitter page that:
To reinvent yourself as an actor is to challenge yourself. Looking forward to portraying #DrManmohanSingh in #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister.:)Anupam Kher (Twitter)
The film written by Hansal Mehta, is being produced by Ashoke Mehta and Sunil Bohra, and directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte.
According to the poster, The Accidental Prime Minister is slated for a ‘Winter 2018’ release. However, with the CBFC now demanding an NOC (No Objection Certificate) from filmmakers who are portraying real-life characters in their films, it remains to be seen if Dr Manmohan Singh will be willing to give an NOC to the filmmakers and whether the CBFC will allow a smooth release of the film if he does not.
