Padmaavat has been embroiled in controversies since its inception ranging from vandalism of the film’s sets to protests against imagined dream sequences and insult to Rajput pride. Fringe groups are even threatening with jauhar if the film releases.
After being banned in states like Rajashthan, Gujarat and Haryana, the state of MP has gone a step further and even asked for a ban on even playing the song, ‘ghoomar’ from the film. The state had banned the Deepika Padukone starrer even before its name was changed and Madhya Pradesh refuses to lift the ban despite the clearance by the censor board.

The Karni Sena had indulged in vandalism in a school in Ratlam after a bunch of school students choreographed and performed a dance number on the song during their annual function.
In the mother of all ironic situations, Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, who is currently visiting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state, Gujarat, was welcomed in Ahmedabad with dancers performing ‘ghoomar’.
