A painter named Mukesh Dakia fell to death on the sets of Padmavati, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming period film, in Mumbai, reports Mid-Day. The 34-year-old resident of Moracha Pada area of the city was reportedly painting a tomb in Film City, senior police official said.
He was declared dead at the Kokilaben hospital where he was rushed after falling head-on from a height of five feet.
While Shobha Santa, CEO of Bhansali Production, called the incident “completely unforeseen”, The Indian Express report claims that safety rules were neglected on the sets.
What took place was extremely unfortunate and completely unforeseen. We are making every effort to help the victim’s kin and we grieve the death of the deceased.Shobha Santa, CEO of Bhansali Production
Amit Ray and Subrata Chakraborty, the art directors of the film, however, have claimed that the sets were “completely equipped” with “best security measures” in place.
The film starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh is slated to be released in November next year.
